The D. Parke Gibson Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America is committed to producing future leaders in the public relations industry. The D. Parke Gibson Chapter was founded in 1985 at Howard University by Debra Miller. Our mission is to:
We strive to make our mark in the industry one student at a time and cultivate public relations within all communities. We are named after D. Parke Gibson, because he was a pioneer in multicultural public relations as well as the founder of the first black-owned PR firm, D. Parke Gibson International, in New York in 1960. Located within the School of Communications at one of the country's top universities, our chapter was the first Historically Black College or University chapter in PRSSA.
