PRSSA. That stands for Public Relations Student Society of America, the premier pre-professional group for students in public relations and related disciplines. We are the student branch of Public Relations Society of America, the national organization that unites over 20,000 PR professionals. This PRSA/PRSSA partnership connects us with the movers and shakers of the PR world - the pros you can read about regularly in industry pubs like PR WEEK. It also offers us a coast-to-coast network of potential employers! The University of Kentucky's PRSSA Mission is to support us in our quest of becoming PR pros by:

*Serving our members by enhancing their knowledge of public relations and providing access to professional development opportunities.

*Serving the public relations profession by helping to develop highly qualified, well prepared professionals. To help achieve this Mission, PRSSA provides members with awesome career prep opportunities at both the national and local levels. National: Each fall, members from across the nation gather at the PRSSA National Conference. For four days, PRSSA members participate in workshops, a Career Expo, resume critiquing, social events, and much more, And the networking opportunities are awesome - PRSA holds its conference concurrent with PRSSA's to facilitate networking! Local: Regional and local PR professionals are eager to help us get ready to join their ranks. Throughout the year, they join us at meetings to share insider's tips on how things really work in the PR world, how to build a portfolio, how to talk about a starting salary during a job interview, and much more. PRSSA members also have the opportunity to shadow local professionals. You'll learn what your professional's work day is like as you sit in on meetings, visit client's offices, and meet with professionals handling outsource projects. An added feature of the day is accompanying your professional to the Thoroughbred Chapter of PRSA's monthly luncheon meeting. Joining PRSSA is a golden investment in your future as a PR professional! Join us today ... contact President Rachel McMahan at rcmcmahan@gmail.com or Vice President Devinne Kelly at devinne.kelly@uky.edu to become a member.
