PRSSA Pre-Professional Webinar Series

We are happy to announce a new series of webinars hosted by PRSSA. These webinars, specifically tailored for seniors, will inform and educate public relations pre-professionals on the subjects that matter most to them.

The third webinar of this series will be held on April 5 at 3 p.m. (ET). This webinar will feature Ron Culp, Fellow PRSA, who is professional director of the Graduate Public Relations and Advertising Program at DePaul University. It will be moderated by Ray Kotcher, Fellow PRSA, who is non-executive chairman of Ketchum and professor at the Boston University College of Communication.

Culp is a veteran public relations executive with a broad-range of experience in brand-building and crisis communications. Prior to beginning his consultancy and joining DePaul, Culp was a Ketchum Partner and headed the global agency’s North America Corporate Practice. He also served as Managing Director of the agency’s Midwest operations. Culp has also held senior public relations positions at Eli Lilly, Pitney Bowes, Sara Lee and Sears, where he was senior vice president of public relations and government affairs. Culp's blog — www.culpwrit.com — provides career advice for individuals pursuing careers in public relations. He also established the Ron Culp Scholarship for Mentorship, exclusively for PRSSA members.

The second webinar of this series was held on March 15 at noon (ET). This webinar was led by Elise Mitchell, APR, Fellow PRSA, CEO of Mitchell and Dentsu Public Relations Network and moderated by Ray Kotcher, Fellow PRSA.

Mitchell is an accomplished strategic communications professional and business leader with more than 25 years of experience in both the agency and corporate settings. Her entrepreneurial spirit and passion have helped her build a successful business, Mitchell Communications Group. Elise wrote Leading Through the Turn: How a Journey Mindset Can Help Leaders Find Success and Significance (McGraw Hill, January 2017). She is a frequent keynote speaker on leadership and the secret to savoring the journey of life.

Kotcher is a non-executive chairman of Ketchum and a professor at the Boston University College of Communication.

The first webinar in our series was held on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at noon EDT. The Life After College webinar was led by author Jeffery Selingo and moderated by Ray Kotcher, Fellow PRSA.

Selingo is a well-known expert on higher education, and is an author of three books on the subject. His most recent, “There is Life After College”, explores how parents and students can look at success in today’s job market and what students need in college to succeed. Selingo is also a special advisor and professor of practice at Arizona State University, and a regular contributor for the Washington Post.

Kotcher is a non-executive chairman of Ketchum and a professor at the Boston University College of Communication.
