Florida Chapter Won Award During 2010 Communication Week
Flagler Students Win Award of Distinction in Golden Image Awards Competition

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL The Public Relations Student Society of America Chapter at Flagler College won an Award of Distinction in the Golden Image Awards competition sponsored by the Florida Public Relations Association for their 2010 Communication Week.

“I was thrilled but not surprised,” said Rosemary Tutt, APR, the PRSSA Chapter Faculty Adviser. “We knew we wanted to raise the bar and sponsor an event that surpassed all the others.”

The keynote speaker for this year’s Communication Week was Kevin Sites, an award-winning war correspondent and author of “In the Hot Zone: One Man, One Year, Twenty Wars.”

When talking about planning this year’s Communication Week, Tutt said, “It is almost like planning the Rose Bowl Parade. Before the petals fall, you begin thinking about a bigger and better event next year.”

Recent PRSSA President Desi Pappas submitted Flagler’s entry in the category for student campaigns developed in 2010. Pappas and Kayle Ferguson attended the Florida Public Relations Association Awards Banquet in Naples on Aug. 10 to receive the award.

This is the second time PRSSA has won on this level. They have won several awards on a regional level.

The Golden Image Awards competition is conducted annually in Florida and its mission is to advance the development of public relations professionalism. It singles out exceptional public relations programs.
