UD and Temple Students Plan a Semester of Academic Success and Progress

September 2, 2013

The University of Delaware Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA-UD), along with Temple University’s PRSSA Chapter, co-hosted a Twitter chat entitled “PRogress in Fall 2013” on August 19.

The conversation sparked discussion about National Conference preparations, internship skills, building networks and broadening social media knowledge. Several PRSSA members set goals for the upcoming semester and plan to achieve great success as young developing professionals.

The chat focused on goal-setting, professional and personal progress as well as strengthening public relations skills through PRSSA. Members used the hashtag “#PRogress” to encourage growth as public relations professionals while still attending college. Many members joined the chat and shared their goals for the semester including: to become a better event planner, develop a larger social media presence and to feel more comfortable writing press releases.

“It was an amazing opportunity to join a conversation between two motivated PRSSA Chapters,” said Natalie Hines, public relations director and moderator of the “PRogress in Fall 2013” Twitter chat. “Conversing with students who have a similar passion for public relations encourages our members to grow in a professional manner.”

Chris Bonelli, PRSSA National Vice President of Chapter Development, also joined and stressed the “plethora of resources” on the PRSSA National website and Progressions blog. The chat gave members an opportunity to network with several young professionals, each with a diverse level of public relations experience and knowledge.

Temple University and the University of Delaware plan to host an “End of the Semester” Twitter chat in late November. The conversation will encourage students to share their young professional success and achievements. Follow @PRSSAUD to find out when the next Twitter Chat will be.
