University of Delaware Launches "Go Pro" Social Media Campaign

NEWARK, Del. (Sept. 26., 2014) – The University of Delaware Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA-UD), recently introduced an eight-day “Go Pro” social media campaign to promote its first general meeting, as well as to explain why joining PRSSA is critical for ongoing success.

"Becoming PRSSA members gives students the resources to develop professionally,” Keri Betters, PRSSA-UD’s public relations director, said. “Through the multi-channel campaign, my goal was to highlight each unique opportunity that comes with being a member."

The campaign was initiated through PRSSA-UD’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. Each day, leading up to the first general meeting on Sept. 8, featured a new graphic highlighting a good reason to join PRSSA. Reasons highlighted included: obtaining writing samples for your portfolio, taking tours of local public relations agencies, learning how to perfect your online and paper resumes and having the chance to earn leadership positions within the organization.

The posts received countless re-tweets, shares, likes and comments during the duration of the campaign, boosting engagement by over 200 percent.

On Sept. 8, more than 100 students attended the first meeting. Many commented saying the campaign influenced them to see what PRSSA-UD was all about. PRSSA-UD is in the process of creating another campaign to be initiated later in the fall semester.
