AU PRSSA Hosted NYC at AU 2

November 5, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Nov. 5, 2014) — Members of the American University Public Relations Student Society of America (AU PRSSA) hosted NYC at AU 2, Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014.

The event hosted three panelists to discuss communication career opportunities in both the entertainment industry and in New York City. The panelists included David Caruso, chief operating officer for the United Entertainment Group; Hillarie Viener, executive vice president of the value engineers; and Michael Menachem, freelance entertainment reporter. All three panelists were American University alumni and have worked with large names such as Rihanna, Nelly, Ke$ha, Bruno Mars and Jason Mraz in the form of branding, advertising or reporting. Professor and Distinguished Artist-In-Residence Russell Williams moderated the event.

NYC at AU 2 was the third entertainment-communication panel and networking event of its kind to be hosted by AU PRSSA. The original NYC at AU, hosted during the spring of 2014, and Los Angeles at AU, hosted in the fall of 2012, preceded this year’s event.

“Studying communications can lead to such a wide variety of career paths that many students remain unaware of,” AU PRSSA President Jenna Mosley said. “We hope that events such as NYC at AU 2 will inspire students to dream big and explore what’s out there, especially since all of the panelists were once AU students just like them.”

The event took place in the Malsi Doyle and Michael Forman Theater. A networking reception catered by Georgetown Cupcake followed the panel discussion.
