Temple PRSSA Hosts Third Annual TU Invitational Conference

March 14, 2016

Day-long conference themed, “Telling Your Tale: Storytelling for the Modern-Day Professional”

PHILADELPHIA (March 14, 2016) — On Saturday, March 12, the Temple University Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) hosted the third annual TU Invitational Conference. The theme for this year’s conference was, “Telling Your Tale: Storytelling for the Modern-Day Professional.” Students had the chance to learn about the art of storytelling, how to communicate a story to an audience and the importance of storytelling from a public relations standpoint, along with different areas of the public relations industry.

Temple alumnus Brian Hart, founder and CEO of Flackable financial public relations agency, served as the keynote speaker. Other speakers included Jessica Lawlor, president and CEO of the “Get Gutsy” blog and community; Kaja Rasmussen, marketing manager of the Liacouras Center for Spectra at Comcast Spectacor; and Nya Sturrup, assistant director of marketing for Independence Seaport Museum. Following the speakers, there was a networking session where students were given the opportunity to build their professional network.

“TU Invitational has become Temple PRSSA’s biggest event,” Kim Leung, conference coordinator, said. “Last year, our attendance rate nearly doubled, and we hope to inspire even more students this year.”

Since the first TU Invitational in 2014, Temple PRSSA’s conference has become a hit among communication students. The event was held at Temple University’s Howard Gittis Student Center. All Temple University alumni were welcomed to the conference as they participated in the networking session. Other PRSSA Chapters around the region were also invited for the day.
