USM PRSSA Partners with Cirlot Agency to Offer Career Tours

March 30, 2016

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (March 30, 2016) — Members of The University of Southern Mississippi Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) traveled to Jackson, Mississippi on Tuesday, March 8 to network and gain insights.

The three-stop visit began at the The Cirlot Agency where students received an intimate tour of the offices and were introduced to the Cirlot team. Rick Looser, president and chief operating officer, greeted students in the boardroom, shared stories about his experiences and offered advice. During his speech, Looser highlighted the importance of accountability, business principles and agency resources.

“Most students graduate without any idea of how an agency works,” said Looser.

Students on the tour gained an understanding of agency logistics and how various roles merge to facilitate successful products and services for clients.

"I have always wondered exactly how an agency operates, and having the opportunity to tour the Cirlot Agency gave me the perfect insight,” said D’Anthony Jackson, USM PRSSA member and graduate assistant. “From public relations to website design, graphic design and social media, it was a perfect illustration of how everything comes together to execute a great campaign."

Following lunch the USM PRSSA members proceeded to tours of the Service Printers and the Digital Imaging Group (DIG) offices. In addition to tours, Service Printers and DIG, who work closely with the Cirlot Agency, shared insights and examples of work created for multiple clients. Students were also shown the efforts behind strategies and tactics implemented in public relations campaigns including print publications, conference banners and packaged materials.

Deonica Davis, USM Alumna and Cirlot Agency graphic designer, collaborated with the USM PRSSA Chapter to organize the tours. For more information on the Cirlot Agency visit www.cirlot.com.
