American University Regional Activity -- ''PR in D.C.- It's Not Just Politics''

WASHINGTON, D.C. – American University PRSSA will host a Regional Activity April 7-8 in Washington, D.C. New and improved in its second year, the theme of this public relations conference will be ''PR in D.C.: It's Not Just Politics.'' The event is open to all PRSSA members, communications students and educators. The Regional Activity will begin on Friday, April 7 with tours of three downtown public relations firms and a ''night on the town'' in the nation's capital. Activities on Saturday, April 8 will include professional development workshops and a ''speed networking lunch'' with communications leaders, as well as career and Chapter Development sessions at American University. Topics will focus on many aspects of public relations, inside and outside the political realm. The Regional Activity will conclude with a keynote address from Patrick McCrummen, director of disaster response communications at the American Red Cross, at the Holiday Inn Georgetown on the evening of Saturday, April 8. The theme of McCrummen's address will be ''Crisis Communications in Hurricane Katrina.'' In addition to the conference activities, participants are also invited to enjoy the concluding weekend of the historic National Cherry Blossom Festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
