Indiana University Hosts Regional Activity for Public Relations and Communications Students

“Get Social: A Blueprint for Social Media Strategy”

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (March 21, 2011) — The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Beth Wood Chapter at Indiana University will host a Regional Activity April 8–9, 2011, at the Kelley School of Business on the Indiana University Bloomington Campus. “Get Social: A Blueprint for Social Media Strategy” will focus on bringing together students and experts to learn how to communicate strategically and professionally using social media.

“Get Social” will feature keynote speakers, development sessions, a Tweetup on Friday evening at the Indiana Memorial Union, and a networking and keynote dinner for registered attendees on Saturday evening at the IU Memorial Football Stadium Hoosier Room.

There also will be three keynote addresses featuring nationally known public relations and social media experts focusing on strategic social media and the impact of social media on the career search.

Some of the most notable speakers include Michael Herman, APR, Fellow PRSA; Jason Falls and Jay Baer. Herman was the recipient of the PRSA Gold Anvil for Lifetime Career Achievement in 2009 and has more than 40 years of public relations experience. Herman will present a keynote speech at the conference’s networking dinner. Falls is nationally recognized as a social media strategist, an AdAge Power 150 Marketing blogger and owner of Social Media Explorer. Baer, once noted by Fast Company as one of the three leading social media advisers in America, will show how companies can succeed by being sociable.

In addition to the keynote sessions, eight other national social media professionals will lead development sessions at the conference, and many communications companies, including Weber Shandwick, Exact Target, Slingshot SEO and MindFrame, will host sessions. See all speakers here.

Registration for the full conference is $25. Attendees can sign up for the daytime conference programs for free, but this option does not include entry to the Friday Get Social Tweetup or Saturday Networking Dinner, which features keynote speaker Herman.
