PRSSA Bateman Case Study Competition Finalists Announcement

NEW YORK (April 18, 2016) — Today, the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) announced that Loyola University New Orleans, Samford University, and the University of Alabama have been selected as finalists of the PRSSA 2016 Bateman Case Study Competition and 16 teams received honorable mentions.

Annually, the Bateman Case Study Competition challenges teams of college students on their ability to develop and present a comprehensive public relations campaign. Two of the main goals of this year’s Bateman Competition were to raise campus and community awareness about Student Veterans of America (SVA) and its programs and to make student veterans and their families informed consumers of their GI Bill benefits. Seventy teams from across the country developed strategies to support SVA in its mission to share student veteran information around the globe, as well as to increase the support and networks for these deserving individuals.

“The heart of SVA is the student veteran led chapter. Our commitment to student veterans' success, both in their education and in their careers, makes this partnership especially meaningful for us,” said Jared Lyon, SVA’s president and CEO. “Throughout the course of these campaigns, we celebrated the launch of new campus chapters, saw countless events held to raise awareness for student veteran organizations, and a number of official proclamations recognizing student veterans in cities and states across the nation. The diligent efforts that the Bateman Competition teams put into their campaigns will no doubt have a lasting impact on their campuses, in their communities, and in the lives of student veterans across the country. We congratulate the finalists, thank all the teams that participated, and look forward to presentations from the top three finalists in May.”

Each team was judged on the research, creation, implementation, evaluation and measurement of their public relations campaign on behalf of SVA. Teams from the top three finalist schools will be invited to present in Chicago on Wednesday, May 18 to representatives from SVA, Edelman, The Plank Center and PRSA. All honorable mention recipients will receive complimentary PRSA Associate Membership for their team members.
