NEW YORK (Dec. 14, 2016) — The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) has announced that Alisa Agozzino, Ph.D., APR, has been elected to a two-year term as PRSSA 2017–2019 National Faculty Adviser on the National Committee, starting June 1, 2017.

The National Faculty Adviser has specific roles and responsibilities on the National Committee, which include counseling fellow members of the National Committee, assisting current Chapter Faculty Advisers and helping Chapters discover and connect with Faculty Advisers.

“Our National Faculty Adviser provides us with valuable insight and guidance during our terms on the National Committee,” said PRSSA 2016–2017 National President Emma Finkbeiner. “We sincerely appreciate everything Tina McCorkindale has done while serving in this position and are thrilled to welcome Alisa Agozzino to the team for the 2017–2019 term.”

Agozzino, currently teaching at Ohio Northern University (ONU) in Ada, Ohio, has served the last 10 years as an adviser — four years as Chapter adviser and six years as Student-run Firm adviser. In 2013, Agozzino was chosen as one of 10 faculty fellows representing the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations where she worked for two weeks alongside the digital team at Florida Power & Light. Following this experience, she led the creation of the social media minor at ONU. She also has been an active member of the PRSA Educators Academy since 2008, serving as the Section’s newsletter editor in chief for the last five years, and has served as a National Assembly delegate and communications chair for Central Ohio PRSA.

“As a former PRSSA member and currently as a local and national PRSA member, I am thrilled to be elected to this important role,” said Agozzino. “This is an incredible opportunity to help serve our Society while working with some amazing up-and-coming public relations professionals across the country.”

Outgoing National Faculty Adviser Tina McCorkindale, Ph.D., APR, will complete her term on May 31, 2016. PRSSA members and advisers are encouraged to connect with both McCorkindale and Agozzino, who will be at the PRSSA National Assembly, March 30–April 2, in Seattle, Washington.
