Amazon Director of Corporate Communications to Participate as Keynote Speaker

NEW YORK (Feb. 1, 2017) — The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) will welcome Ty Rogers, director of corporate communications for Amazon, as the Sunday morning keynote speaker at the PRSSA 2017 National Assembly.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Rogers has been with Amazon since 2010. He had a variety of experience prior to Amazon including just over a year spent in commercial and litigation law, several years running his own photography business and just over three years in public relations with MWW Group, all based in Seattle. Tina McCorkindale, PRSSA National Faculty Adviser and Seattle native, said it is one of the fastest growing cities, boasting companies like Amazon, Starbucks and Microsoft.

“Leading the way is Amazon, a tremendous force of growth and innovation that has literally dominated the South Lake Union area,” McCorkindale said. “Listening to Ty Rogers chronicle his experience in corporate communications at Amazon will be an exceptional opportunity for National Assembly attendees.”

In contrast to traditional keynote addresses, Rogers will participate in a fireside-chat-style discussion Sunday morning with PRSSA 2016–2017 National President Emma Finkbeiner before opening up the floor for questions from the audience.

“Securing someone from a large corporation like Amazon is really exciting for PRSSA,” Finkbeiner said. “I’m thrilled to be facilitating the discussion with him, and I think it will wrap up our event on a high note.”

National Assembly will take place from March 30–April 2 in Seattle. For more information about National Assembly or to learn how to become a delegate, visit the National Assembly website.
