PRSSA Announces New National Involvement Opportunities for Members

NEW YORK (June, 26 2017) — The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) 2017–2018 National Committee is seeking applicants for 10-15 Regional Ambassadors as well as four new subcommittees: the Digital Communications, Graphics, Multimedia  and Industry News Subcommittees. Applications open today, June 26 and will close Monday, July 17 at midnight.

“One of the greatest benefits of PRSSA membership is the ability to develop a national network and the National Committee is excited to increase national involvement opportunities for students this year,” said PRSSA National President Andrew Cook. “Applying to be on a subcommittee is an ideal way to enhance your education while also broadening your network.”

Students may apply for multiple opportunities and should submit a separate application for each position to the appropriate National Committee member. Selection for Regional Ambassadors will be based in part on geographical location. Please contact Andrew Cook, PRSSA National President, at adcook22@gmail.com, for any further questions.

Vice President of Chapter Development, Marley Vawter will manage the Regional Ambassador program in its first year.

The Regional Ambassadors will serve as liaisons between Chapter presidents and the National Committee to carry out the Phone Email Outreach Tree Initiative. Regional Ambassadors will make phone calls to update Chapter information for PRSSA Chapters in an assigned region. These students will be in charge of organizing and completing the Phone Email Outreach Tree for each semester. After each round of the Phone Email Outreach Tree, Regional Ambassadors will report to the Vice President of Chapter Development, Marley Vawter with updates and results.

Interested applicants should email Marley Vawter (marleyvawter@gmail.com) and should include application with “Regional Ambassador” written in the designated subcommittee field. Ambassadors will be chosen on a rolling basis and the final application deadline will be July 17 at midnight.

Vice President of Digital Communications, JaCey Lynn Yonke will manage the Digital Communications and Graphics Subcommittees.

The Digital Communications Subcommittee will consist of three to four members who will assist with the development and promotion of the new Member Spotlights, the promotion of Chapter News and writing social media/digital communications content for Progressions and FORUM. We ask applicants to be:

- Well versed in AP Style as well as knowledgeable with the PRSSA Style Guide

- Experienced at writing press releases

- Timely and well-prepared

- Effective communicators over phone and email

Interested applicants should email JaCey Lynn Yonke and must include their application along with three writing samples.

The Graphics Subcommittee will consist of three to four members who will assist in the creation of graphic and video content for the PRSSA National website and PRSSA National social media platforms. We ask applicants to be:

- Well versed in AP Style as well as familiar with the PRSSA Style Guide

- Skilled with the software such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva

- Creative

- Interested in social media

- Timely and well-prepared

- Effective communicators over phone and email

Publications Editor in Chief Natalie Gloady will oversee the Industry News and Currents Events Subcommittee, as well as the Multimedia Subcommittee.

The Industry News and Events Subcommittee will regularly contribute to Progressions and FORUM covering industry news and trends throughout the year. The subcommittee will consist of three to four members who will work collaboratively with the publications editor to produce relevant content in a timely manner. The Multimedia Subcommittee will assist in the creation of podcasts for Progressions and FORUM that discuss industry news and trends, PRSSA member benefits, professional development advice and various other topics. The subcommittee will consist of three to four members who will work collectively with the publications editor to ensure the quality and consistency of the podcasts.
